Scientific modelling of macro and micro

Relating to the world in terms of a scientific model is something that appealed Abheek immensely. This attitude was about relating to the life, it’s events, and contents as a conceptual model, devoid of the stickiness of personalities, attachments or repulsion. This is about replacing the subjects with entities, events and actions as processes, results as intermediate states of the state machine. It is about focusing on discovering the scientific law the determines how the world works.

This pursuit can be taken up both in micro level and macro level. In the micro level it is about individual cases and the nuances of the entities, processes and their interactions. In macro level it is about the direction, pattern and strategy in which the bigger groups operate.

In both the cases, there is a specific neutrality and scientific dispassion involved. That helps to see the inherent morality and the right way to act. That is termed as Dharma in the Hindu Philosophy.

This attitude is universal irrespective of the domain or case in which it is applied. In the business context when dealing with individuals in the micro level the leader deals with the entities with specific social needs, their strengths, and handles situations with respect to the various models of conflict resolutions, communication theory etc. Similarly when a leader operates on the process level, every project has specific conceptual entities like team, schedule, stakeholders and she sees them interacting as per some conceptual framework. In macro level the CEO sees the market trends, the org structure, financial performance and the future towards which she needs to drive the organisation.

No matter it is micro or macro, the thing that drives the life is a deep centric scientific attitude which is dispassionate and focussed. There is no place for selfishness, self preservation, emotional attachment or repulsion. It is about being part of the whole and being part of the eternal game.

That is the reason research finds that academicians, and researchers have a greater degree of happiness and overall life satisfaction. That goes very well to explain why most of the housewives and family people are distressed. Being so emotionally attached to their ego, attachment or repulsion with their kith and kin, they always lose the opportunity for such dispassionate scientific analysis or synthesis. No wonder most of the humans (almost all) in any domain, who have been able to do anything novel and important had been either single, or a recluse, or detached from their day to day bindings of their physical, emotional, and familial distractions. From pure science, to politics, to cookery, to art, music or any domain you see. The same pattern recurs over and over again.

Abheek was wondering why then so many people are so attached to what makes them deludedly intoxicated in short term, without giving them the long term peace and joy! Why still there are people who think relationships, money, power, etc such extrinsic goals will ever make them happy! When the need is to develop that sharp scientific mindset and build a discipline of handling anything and everything right here and now with scientific precision of models, most of the humanity is busy indulging with their immediate short term attraction to physical and emotional relaxation.

It is probably the law of nature. Water always flows from high level to low level. So does humanity. We are always pulled to our primordial mundane animal nature! The nature that the Lion King names – ‘Hakunamatata’. It is that pleasurable and carefree state where the lion King Simba finds it gratifying living on muggers and worms. He shuns his bigger responsibilities. It is not just about cowardice and laziness. More importantly it is an inability to scientifically model the micro and the macro.
